School Mission
  • The Francis Scott Key staff and community are committed to developing the necessary skills that enable our students to be successful citizens and life long learners. These skills will include the core curriculum areas as well as an understanding and appreciation in the areas of technology, art, music and physical education.

    All children will be guided to become capable of independent thought and decision making that will lead to interacting effectively with their environment. Student progress, respect, and responsibility for themselves and others in a diverse world will be nurtured during their attendance at Francis Scott Key.

Curriculum
  • Special education programs designed specifically for students with autism, language or speech impairment, specific learning disabilities, limited intellectual functioning, orthopedic impairments, multiple disabilities and other health impairments.

Lion Dance and self-defense for students in grades 3-5 at no cost; First Tee Program. Golf classes after school for students in grades 2-5 at no cost and Mandarin Classes twice a week after school. Grades K-5. Fee-based.

Parent and Community Support
  • FS Key has a strong tie with the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center. It helps us run one of our after school programs and provides us with school volunteers through their Experience Corps Program.
    Parents are actively involved in our PTA and School Site Council.

  • Francis Scott Key has an afterschool learning program that is funded by an AB1756 grant. It serves over 150 students in grades 2-5 from 1:50 to 5:50 p.m. daily. The program includes project-based instruction in reading and math, homework assistance, dance lessons, cooking, First Tee Golf Program, martial arts and other recreational activities.
